When & Where
Thu, October 29, 2015 - 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM
D-Lab: Convening Room (356 Barrows Hall)

This workshop will introduce geocoding - the process of determining the geographic location of a place name, zipcode or address. The first part of this workshop will be an introduction to the process of geocoding and strategies for achieving good results. We will then review the various online and desktop tools available for geocoding that do not require programming including Google Earth Pro, the Census Geocoding tool, and ArcGIS. The workshop will include some tutorial exercises for practice with the various tools. We will also discuss approaches for linking geocoded addresses to census data and for scaling up to millions of addresses.

Please bring your laptop with you to participate in the exercises.
