D-Lab: Convening Room (356 Barrows Hall)

This workshop is for students who want to acquire some hands-on experience with online tools for finding and downloading data from the Census Bureau. The goal may be to use those data in a statistical analysis package, but we will also focus on downloading and formating those data for use with geospatial analysis packages. The resources we will focus on are Social Explorer and NHGIS, but we will also touch upon other resources for understanding census data and geographic boundary files. No prior knowledge is needed.  This workshop is recommended if you plan to take "Mapping Census Data with Desktop GIS" on April 8th.
