Bio/CV: 

John Cherry is an MPH candidate in Infectious Diseases and Vaccinology at UC Berkeley’s School of Public Health. He earned his B.A. in Public Health with a minor in Economics from Willamette University, where he studied abroad in Botswana and worked at a nonprofit HIV and pediatric clinic. Passionate about global health, rural health, and infectious disease prevention, John is especially interested in how social and environmental factors shape health outcomes. At D-Lab, he applies GIS tools to social science research, collaborating across disciplines to support data-driven solutions for healthier, more equitable communities.

Research interests: 

Geographic Information Systems (GIS) — comprehensive expertise in spatial data collection, management, analysis, and visualization; mapping and interpreting census, public health, and environmental data; creating clear, engaging visualizations that communicate insights to both academic and public audiences.
