Senior Data Science Fellow 2025-2026, Data Science Fellow 2024-2025
School of Information
Hey everyone, I’m Sohail - a 1st years Master’s student studying Data Science at the I-School. I am interested in the intersection between Computer Science, Data Science, and Cognitive Psychology and using these tools to understand, discover, and drive the development of assistive technologies.
I have experience building with brain computer Interfaces, developing distributed data processing applications, and am currently working on a large scale archival project aimed at preserving the history and memory of resistance movements through an embedding based...
Joyce is a PhD candidate in Transportation Engineering. Her research focuses on assessing safety and network impacts of autonomous vehicles. She has teaching experiences in statistics and programming. Prior to Berkeley, Joyce obtained her Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from the University of Michigan, and had worked as a software engineer at various companies.
Armaan Hiranandani is a Master’s student in Data Science at UC Berkeley, where he also earned his B.S. in Industrial Engineering & Operations Research. Born and raised in Dubai, Armaan recently completed a software engineering internship at Netflix, working on the machine learning platform team. His interests include building scalable AI systems and applying data science to solve real-world problems.
Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences (EECS)
I'm a PhD student in Berkeley AI Research (BAIR). My research interests include interpretability, robotics, computer vision, AI for the environment, and education, though the list keeps growing and probably needs some pruning. I'm a little nervous, but mostly hopeful about the future we're building and about the role data plays in shaping it.
Finley joined D-Lab as full-time staff launching their career in Data Science after graduating with a Bachelor's degree in Applied Math from UC Berkeley.
They have been with D-Lab since Fall 2020, formerly as part of the UTech Management team before joining as full-time staff in Fall 2023. They love the learning environment of D-Lab and their favorite part of the job is their co-workers! In their free time, they enjoy reading, boxing, listening to music, and playing Dungeons & Dragons. Feel free to stop by the front desk to ask them any questions or...
Hugh Kadhem is a Ph.D. student in Applied Mathematics, with broad research interests in computational quantum physics and high-performance scientific computing.
I'm a Master's student at the Berkeley School of Information in the MIMS program, studying Data Science. I am especially interested in applying the statistical and computational methods of Data Science to problems within the natural sciences and transportation. To this end I am currently helping with the data analysis of a spectroscopy experiment at SLAC National Lab. Outside of academic work I enjoy improving my cooking skills, biking, and learning about history and geography.
I am a senior majoring in Computer Science and minoring in Data Science. I love crunching down big data and analyzing it in order to help solve real-life issues. In my free time, I like jamming out to music, drawing, studying history, and posting on my foodstagram. If you have any questions regarding Computer Science or Data Science, please stop by!
Hello! I am a first-year Masters's student at the School of Information in the MIMS program with a focus is in data science and ethics. Before joining Berkeley, I studied computer science at the University of Puget Sound.
