Hero is a PhD student in Sociology. She is interested in how people care for themselves and their families under capitalism. Her current research asks how hierarchies of gender, race, and class in the United States are reflected in people’s reliance on different sources of income. Her dissertation will look at economic abuse within relationships and public policy interventions pertaining to women's economic independence in the US and UK. Hero has experience working with many publicly available datasets, including the ACS, CPS, and SCF.
