Amy Van Scoyoc

I am a Ph.D. Candidate in Environmental Science, Policy & Management at Berkeley. As a community ecologist, I use movement data and satellite imagery to disentangle how human land-uses affect wildlife behavior and population dynamics. Before joining the Brashares lab, I managed the Data Analytics & IT Department at Earthwatch Institute, where I led initiatives to engage corporate stakeholders and volunteers in ecology field research. I graduated from Dartmouth College with a B.A. in Ecology.

He spent the past three years in economic consulting, focused on designing competitive electric power markets to produce optimal outcomes. Irene Farah

City and Regional Planning

Irene is a PhD student in City and Regional Planning. Her research interests lie at the intersection of urban geography, political science, and public health. In particular, she studies street vendors in Mexico City and how the spatiality and politics of their working conditions impact their access to healthy food. She strongly believes in connecting with other social scientists to share perspectives on how to use technology to acquire greater knowledge of social phenomena.

Sean Perez

Sean is a Ph.D. candidate in Environmental Science, Policy and Management (ESPM). His thesis is centered around the chemical and genetic components that underly chemical defense in arthropods. To answer these questions, he uses a variety of methods from Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry to RNAseq differential expression analysis. To this end, he programs in R, Python, and bash.

Seyi is a PhD Student in the School of Information and is a member of the Algorithmic Fairness and Opacity Group. Her research broadly explores the problem space of digital memory, specifically the social discourse surrounding algorithms, ethics, and engagement.
