Grace is a 3rd year Bioengineering PhD candidate in the joint UC Berkeley-UCSF Graduate Program. Her research lies at the nexus of computational design and 3D-bioprinting to advance tissue engineering for regenerative medicine. She previously studied Materials Science and Engineering (B.S.) and Computer Science (M.S.) at Stanford University, where she investigated printable batteries to power an ultra-affordable scanning electron microscope and explored computer science education research by developing AI models to augment teaching ability.
Hugh Kadhem is a Ph.D. student in Applied Mathematics, with broad research interests in computational quantum physics and high-performance scientific computing.
Addison is an aspiring mathematician and social scientist (Class of '27). He loves collecting books he'll never read, is an open-source and open-access advocate, and an aspiring community organizer and systems disrupter. Ask me about community-based participatory action research (CBPAR), critical pedagogy, applied mathematics, and social science.
James Hall is a graduate student in the Statistics MA program at University of California, Berkeley. He is a husband and father to three awesome kids. Originally from Baltimore, MD, James earned his bachelors in Mathematics at the United States Military Academy at West Point, NY in 2011, and served as a U.S. Army officer. He’s served as a leader at multiple levels within large organizations with a professional focus on visualizing and communicating complex analysis to decision makers. James’ experience and coursework give him expertise in navigating different statistical methods,...

I’m a D-Lab GSR and a graduate student in The Goldman School’s Master of Public Policy/The I School’s Graduate Certificate in Applied Data Science. I have 5 years of experience working on data problems in government and nonprofits. I’m interested in social policy, program evaluation, and computational methods. Python is my principal language, but I’ve developed experience using and teaching a variety of other tools, including R, Excel, Tableau, and JavaScript. I deeply enjoy teaching data science methods and am excited to be a part of the D-Lab.

Aniket Kesari was a postdoc and data science fellow at D-Lab. He is currently a research fellow at NYU’s Information Law Institute, and will join the faculty of Fordham Law School in 2023. His research focuses on law and data science, with particular interests in privacy, cybersecurity, and consumer protection.
Chris Paciorek is an adjunct professor in the Department of Statistics, as well as the Statistical Computing Consultant in the Department's Statistical Computing Facility (SCF) and in the Econometrics Laboratory (EML) of the Economics Department. He is also a user support consultant for Berkeley Research Computing. He teaches and presents workshops on statistical computing topics, with a focus on R.
Maya is an Integrative Biology Ph.D. student in the Finnegan Marine Paleobiology Lab, where she studies life-history evolution and diversity patterns in the marine invertebrate fossil record. She is happy to help with statistical analyses, data visualizations, and simulations in R. She also has recently been dabbling in image analysis, including python-based machine learning and 3D Slicer extension development, and would love to help other newcomers get started.
