Samy Abdel-Ghaffar

I just completed my PhD in cognitive neuroscience from UC Berkeley, applying machine learning techniques to functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) data to study how the human visual system processes emotional stimuli. I enjoy teaching both programming and statistics. I am proficient in the use of Python, Matlab and R for scientific computing, machine learning and data visualization. I also have worked as a software engineer for a number of years using C++.

I am able to help with both programming and statistics related questions. Matlab and Python are my primary scientific computing languages, but I also have some experience with R.  I worked as a software engineer for a number of years using C++ as well. I can help with linear modeling of data for both inference (both parametric and non-parametric tests) and prediction. I'm also familiar with unsupervised machine learning techniques such as PCA/ICA and clustering.
