My name is Joni Landeros-Cisneros, (pronouns: he/him/his). I am a first-generation and system impacted scholar in the Critical Studies of Race, Class, and Gender. Ph.D. program: Education.

I was born in La Piedad, Michoacán, and was raised in Sioux City, Iowa. I completed a B.S. in anthropology and an MA in anthropology from Iowa State University where I was a Ronald E. McNair scholar.

Julianne Kapner

Julianne Kapner is a PhD student in the UC Berkeley Department of Linguistics. Her research focuses on sociophonetics, with especially how the pronunciation of language changes between generations and in response to social change.

She uses a combination of qualitative and quantitative methods, with an emphasis on research ethics and social good. In her research, Julianne has worked with speakers of a variety of languages, including Armenian, several Kru and Kwa languages of West Africa, and Western New York English.
