Meriam Salem is an incoming PhD Sociology student at the University of California, Berkeley. Before attending Berkeley, she obtained her Master's in Human Geography and Urban Studies at the London School of Economics. Her research interests builds upon the interdisciplinary works of scholars and writers who have moved away from traditions that locate refugees, immigrants, and the forcibly displaced as a legal classification requiring intervention.

Neelum Maqsood

Neelum is pursuing her PhD in Political Science from UC Merced. Her thesis is focused on the gap between descriptive and substantive representation of minorities in the government.

She is studying political communication, policymaking and agenda setting in the parliament. Before that, she worked in the development sector on multiple federal projects.

Neena Albarus

Neena Albarus is pursuing a PhD in Social Welfare at UC Berkeley, building upon her Master's in Social Work from The University of the West Indies - Mona Campus, Jamaica. She is proficient in data analysis tools such as Stata and SPSS.

Neena has contributed to diverse research projects, including mental health, COVID-19 impacts, and social violence. Her research expertise spans quantitative, qualitative, and participatory methods.

Rashmi Krishnan

Environmental Health Sciences

I am a PhD student in Environmental Health Sciences learning to measuring environmental exposures for epidemiological research. I am especially keen on designing exposure assessment studies for low-income and marginalized groups in resource-constrained contexts.

My life outside of work typically involves being outside, hanging out with my friends and soaking in wilderness, sun, sand, art and music.

Rebecca is a PhD Candidate in sociology at UC San Diego. Her research focuses on organizational inequality and group processes in the areas of race, class, and gender.

Robin is a Doctoral student at the University of California, Berkeley studying in Environmental Science, Policy, and Management Department. Robin is presently a Research Associate in the Hydrogeology Department/Earth & Environmental Sciences Area at the Lawrence Berkeley National Lab (LBNL).

Wilson Torres

Wilson received a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree from Stanford University in Chemical Engineering and Biology, respectively, and a second Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Pennsylvania. He is currently pursuing a Doctoral degree in Mechanical Engineering at the University of California, Berkeley in the Embodied Dexterity Group.

Outside of lab he enjoys martial arts and has practiced Muay Thai and Eskrima.
